SKINTYPES

Balanced skin refers to skin that has well-balanced sebum and moisture production - it is not too oily and not too dry. Balanced skin has refined pores and no visible blemishes, flaky areas or oily spots.

“When you gain a better understanding of your skin, you can begin to make more informed decisions about your skincare products, as well as regime steps that are most suitable for you.

Building A Daily Skin Regime

We all want glowing, resilient skin, but healthy, supple and clear skin doesn’t just transpire overnight. Just like many things, it requires understanding, time and patience. Having a consistent skincare routine over a period of time helps your skin receive the care and nourishment that it needs. But, a good skincare routine is only as good as the products being used. This does not necessarily mean products that are more expensive and/or difficult to acquire. High quality products support the skin using ingredients that are reliable, properly tested, and which are safe; whereas in contrast, poor quality products are often bulked up with filler ingredients, have artificial colourings and fragrances to mask the other ingredients, are often ineffective, and in some circumstances can have a negative impact on not only your skin but also your overall health.

Following a regimented skincare routine on a regular basis helps to increase desired results but also helps to maintain the overall condition and health of your skin. With the support of acquired knowledge, you will be able to establish a better understanding of your skintype as well as it’s needs in accordance with your lifestyle. As a result, you will find it much easier to maintain your skin’s condition and health.

CLEANSE

Washing your face is the most basic and essential step of any routine because the skin accumulates environmental pollutants, dirt, impurities, excess oils as well as other factors over the course of the day that need to be gently removed. Cleanse twice a day, morning and night, to prevent clogged pores, dullness and any unwanted irritations or inflammations such as acne/breakouts.

CARE

Taking care of your skin and its protective barrier is an important step in your skincare regime. Serums are powerful skin allies. Formulated with active ingredients, serums can help balance and tone the skin, and help mitigate a variety of skin concerns ranging from dark spots to wrinkles. Moisturisers, on the other hand, have the basic function to hydrate and soften the skin.  They help prevent water loss through the outer layers of skin and can also complement the naturally found protective oils and other building blocks within the skin.

PROTECT

All dermatologists and skin experts will unanimously agree on one thing; sunscreen is the most crucial skin-care product to weave into your daily regime. Daily and consistent sunscreen use helps to prevent the development of fine lines and wrinkles, textural imperfections, and changes in the appearance of pores over time. But most importantly, daily sunscreen use can help to prevent the formation of certain skin cancers. Use a daily moisturiser with a built-in broad spectrum SPF of at least 30, or preferably use an SFP50 after your final skincare step, but before you apply any cosmetic/makeup products.

BOOST

Boosters or concentrates should be used after a cleansing and care regime to help give the skin an extra ‘boost’ of nutrients. They are often formulated with concentrated amounts of specialised active nutrients, and other skin benefiting ingredients, that can help to diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and also may help treat acne/mild scarring, targeted oiliness, and hyperpigmentation. Some boosters also work to help treat ‘deeper’ issues such as ageing by supporting the increase of collagen production in the skin. This in turn can help to restore skin elasticity, resulting in the skin looking and feeling more soft and supple.
